The position of the Mosque and Islamic Law in Suicide

By Prof. Dr. KH Maman Abdurrahman

Mosques are not only contain many meanings, but also the most widely mentioned in the Qur'an and sunna Prophet Muhammad. The mosque is also the most frequently expressed in daily life because there is always a village, town, and Muslim countries in the world. Outside of Muslim countries or Muslim countries, the mosque became a symbol and the Muslim community faces around him.

In the Koran, said the mosque with all its derivations, there are 93 words. Explicitly, a sentence that uses the mosque said there are 22 kinds. Meanwhile, in the plural (masajid) there are about six words. Derived from the root word sajada, yasjudu, the mosque is a place where people prostrate, establish prayer, and held teaching (taklim). The mosque is a place where people who purifies himself to God from a variety of bad intentions. The mosque is a place to foster devotion to God (Surat at-Tauba [9]: 108). The mosque is a place purify themselves with prayers and prayer. Therefore, any activities not allowed in mosques, in addition to devoting ourselves to God with a sincere intention, sincere, cautious solely to God.
Hence, to enter the mosque there were rules to be followed and obeyed. Like, go into the mosque by putting his right foot and pray to ask God's grace. Then, disunahkan establish two cycles sunna prayer. And, people who berhadas great (menstruation, childbirth) and be barred from entering the mosque. In fact, trade was also forbidden to be done in the mosque, including collect a debt.

With a variety of information, it is clear that the mosque is a very honorable and noble, and only used for taqarrub (closer) to Allah. Sometimes also, the mosque called deposited. Thus, very deplorable when someone entered the mosque with evil intentions, especially with intent to kill.

During Fathu Makkah, Muslim conflict and non-Muslims at that time, especially the Quraish, pretty fast. If left unchecked, it will cause a new war. When the Prophet entered Mecca, with almost no resistance from the Quraish. Rasul SAW said: "Whoever entered the house of Abu Sufyan, it will be guaranteed safety. And whoever entered the mosque, he also guaranteed its safety."

Above Hadith confirms that people who go to mosques or houses of worship (anyone without seeing religion), must be protected. So, very unfortunately, someone who entered the mosque using violent means, even doing the bombing effort. Killing people for no apparent reason is a crime, and suicide is a very despicable act. Rasul SAW condemned the suicide, and confirmed to not menshalatkannya. "Those who commit suicide will be punished on the Day of Resurrection." (Reported by al-Jamaat). Allaah knows best.
